Laura Nicholls and I will be sharing our experiences and knowledge surrounding mental health, techniques and tools to help you whether you’re a dog professional or guardian and be completely candid and open about mental health.
Mental health is something that is still like the elephant in the room, something that not many people want to talk about. It’s very real and affects a lot of people, we want to help you!
There’s no shame in struggling with mental health and most of us love dogs because of our mental health and we gravitate to dogs because of this. We may have adopted a dog who we felt was similar to us and that was the foundation of the bond.
So Laura and I are opening up about our own journeys, being transparent as possible and we want to hear from you. Whether you are like us or support someone like us.
We aren’t mental health professionals by a long stretch but Laura has a background in mental health and care services and I have taken mental health courses such as a Suicide Prevention Course, Counselling Skills Level 2 and much more to support colleagues and clients alike as well as being a member of the SIT- INTODogs Social Inclusion Team to regularly help others.
So grab a coffee, a glass of wine or herbal tea and come and join us on Friday at 8pm and let’s talk about mental health! In the Miyagis Dog Training Community group on Facebook, come and join us!
